New Zealand is known as being 'clean & green.' We want to keep it that way. Therefore we believe it is imperative to play our part and lead the industry as a responsible tourism company. To do this we have developed a comprehensive environmental management programme, known as 'Pacific Planet'.
This programme has allowed us to develop a framework of initiatives that places environmental concerns firmly within the fundamental values of the company. The work started with the removal of all non self-contained vehicles (those without shower & toilet) from our fleet. At our 4 nationwide locations we have a recycling system established that sees all waste separated into the appropriate recycling bin and there are stickers and signs to remind staff to conserve energy by turning off lights, monitors etc.
Green Globe is the most recognised environmental and social standards programme in the world. This benchmarking and certification system takes into account our efforts in economic, social and environmental management. We are very proud to gain Green Globe accreditation and join the collective of award-winning, unique and innovative tourism operators that demonstrate such responsible behaviour. Travellers can be confident that by choosing a Green Globe accredited operator they are choosing a company with a recognised commitment to sustainability.
As members of the Sustainable Business Networks GreenFleet Initiative we will be funding the replanting of enough new native trees to be effectively carbon neutral for our own vehicle use. We recognise that New Zealand has some very beautiful and unique natural fauna. This is part of our effort to make sure that it remains for the enjoyment of subsequent generations and other travellers to come.
We have also developed a carbon-offset scheme. This scheme, which costs just NZ$1 per day, allows our clients to offset the carbon emissions of their hire. The funds collected go towards the native tree replanting initiatives.
We do not see our commitment to the environment as stopping there. As a company we will constantly look towards leading the way in sustainable tourism and aim to make continued advancements in this area. As such we welcome any suggestions you may have that can benefit the environment and add to the 'Pacific Planet' programme.
